Embedded iPaaS Comparison

Cyclr is often asked and compared to the likes of Zapier, n8n and tray. This has led us to want to further our understanding of our differences and visually demonstrate them.

To do this we developed 8 key metrics, these metrics are features or characteristics the platforms share and scored them based on these. On the radar chart above you can see and interact with the results yourself to see how each platform scores.

We’ve done this in the hope that it clarifies where Cyclr sits in the integration platform market and ultimately to help you find the right embedded iPaaS or iPaaS for your organization.

Multi-Dimensional Analysis

Evaluate platforms across 8 key metrics from Connector Library Size to Enterprise Capabilities.

Data-Driven Insights

Each platform is scored on a scale of 0-10, with total scores displayed in the legend.

Managed Connector Library Size

This looks at the breadth of the platform’s pre-built connector library and, just as importantly, whether those connectors are actively maintained by the vendor. For SaaS companies, a large managed library can reduce time-to-market, lower maintenance burden, and make it easier to expand integration coverage without repeatedly diverting engineering resources.

Platform Maturity

This measures how established and battle-tested the platform is. We consider things like time in market, depth of product functionality, evidence of real-world usage, and how developed the surrounding support, documentation, and operational processes appear to be. In practice, maturity often shows up in how well a platform handles edge cases, complexity, and long-term customer needs.

Ease of Operation

This reflects how easy the platform is to run day-to-day once adopted. That includes usability for technical and non-technical teams, the quality of administration tools, visibility into workflows, ease of debugging, and the general operational overhead required to deliver and support integrations at scale.

Initial Affordability

This considers how accessible the platform is at the start of the journey. We look at the likely cost and commitment required to get up and running, especially for companies launching or formalising an embedded integration strategy. A strong score here means the barrier to entry is relatively manageable.

Affordability at Scale

This measures how commercially sustainable the platform is as your customer base, integration count, and usage grow. Some platforms appear inexpensive at first but become materially more expensive as volumes increase. This criterion looks at how predictable and scalable the pricing model is over time.

Multi-Tenancy Capabilities

This evaluates how well the platform supports multiple customers, environments, and configurations within a single SaaS business. Strong multi-tenancy capabilities include tenant isolation, reusable templates, tenant-specific configuration, operational control across customers, and architecture designed for managing many integration deployments efficiently.

White Label Features

This looks at how completely the integration experience can be presented as part of your own product and brand. Higher scores are given to platforms that allow a deeply embedded, branded experience where your customers do not need separate vendor accounts and are not exposed to third-party branding throughout the integration journey.

Enterprise Capabilities

This measures how well the platform supports the needs of larger, more demanding SaaS and software businesses. That includes areas such as security, compliance, governance, deployment flexibility, scalability, control, support for complex workflows, and the ability to satisfy enterprise customer expectations over time.

These criteria are intended to help clarify where each platform is strongest and where trade-offs may exist, depending on your product strategy, customer profile, and growth stage.

Embedded iPaaS vs. iPaaS

Embedded iPaaS and traditional iPaaS may sound similar, but they serve very different purposes. A traditional iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service) is designed for internal use, helping IT teams connect systems and automate workflows within their own organization, Zapier for instance.

An Embedded iPaaS, on the other hand, is built specifically for software companies that want to deliver integrations as part of their product. With an Embedded iPaaS like Cyclr, you can embed a white-labeled integration layer directly into your app, empowering your customers to connect to hundreds of third-party services without ever leaving your platform.

It’s the difference between managing integrations behind the scenes and turning integrations into a seamless, revenue-driving feature of your SaaS.

Embedded iPaaS vs Traditional iPaaS

Cyclr – Why there is really no competition!

Cyclr is typically used by enterprise-level SaaS, software and AI companies that already have an eco-system of integrations that they are looking to extend, optimize, control or standardize. Our embedded iPaaS is designed for growth/scale businesses and our toolkit is designed to handle complexity.

Our customers typically range from 50+ employees up to very large multi-nationals. If you are a new Start-Up or have very simple integration requirements then other products may be better suited to you.

We deploy a low-code methodology but are proud of the rich function that Cyclr also makes available to you (we know you will need this). Our embedded iPaaS was the first to market and we have an enviable level of very focused domain-level experience.

Features of our API Integration Platform

  • A continuously growing library of over 600 pre-built API connectors. We manage and maintain so you can focus on adding features to your core platform.
  • Low code tools with rich additional functionality to handle the unique edge cases that you will undoubtedly have.
  • The platform is completely white-labelled, enabling you to connect to third-party apps on behalf of your clients. It is not required for your customers to have a Cyclr account, Cyclr remains invisible unlike some of our competitors.
  • Scalable self-hosted options via Shared Hosting environments which are affordable, scalable and secure. Alternatively, Private Cloud if you’re looking for more control over your data processing and customisable scalable architecture for higher data volumes.
  • Cyclr is SOC2 Type II accredited and GDPR compliant. As an organisation, we take data security and compliance very seriously. We regularly undertake both external and internal assessments of our processes and procedures.

How much does Cyclr cost?

Our pricing page is available to the public as we see no need to hide pricing. Either you have the budget for, and understand the benefit of, an embedded iPaaS or you don’t. No need to speak to a salesperson and get into the ‘pipeline’ just to understand potential costs.

Want something Private Cloud? Okay then that is a bit more custom and you will need to speak to us such that we can rapidly provide a quote based upon your specific needs.

All Cyclr plans include:

  • Unlimited integration workflows
  • Unlimited users

Watch out as many, non Cyclr, price plans become a ‘tax on your revenue’ as they grow in line with your user and/or integration flow growth. Start low, finish high.

Our pricing is designed to be predictable and separated from your own growth from day one. We have a base price plan for the software license and then charge per Connector used (subscribe once, use multiple times). If you are in our shared plans there is also an inclusive API call allowance and a simple excess charge if you exceed.

Prismatic

Prismatic, like Cyclr, is an Embedded iPaaS vendor. Prismatic is, however, newer to the market with a less mature product. Prismatic make bold claims on their website about feature superiority but achieve this by getting the feature suite of Cyclr (and other iPaaS products) incorrect in their comparisons.

Cyclr is richer in experience than Prismatic, we have been building our embedded iPaaS for a much longer period.

Our design ethos is that an embedded iPaaS should save you substantial time and open-up your integration eco-system creation and maintenance to a wider technical and non-technical audience. Cyclr therefore carries a higher degree of abstraction than Prismatic.

Paragon Workflow

Paragon

Paragon, like Cyclr, is an Embedded iPaaS vendor. Paragon is, however, newer to the market with a less mature product.

Paragon are making strong strides in developing their product but have steered away from providing the full feature suite you need in one product, towards providing different ‘modules’ that you need to operate across to achieve your outcomes.

Cyclr is richer in experience than Paragon, we have been building our embedded iPaaS for a much longer period. Cyclr has experience that positions us well for enabling the tricky edge-case integration requirements that all software vendors inevitably have.

Our design ethos is that an embedded iPaaS should save you substantial time and open-up your integration eco-system creation and maintenance to a wider technical and non-technical audience. Cyclr therefore carries a higher degree of abstraction than Paragon.

Tray.ai

Tray.ai is an AI centric API integration platform targeted at citizen automators. Essentially, it allows anyone to integrate, automate, and innovate. It is a platform encouraging growth and empowering your workforce to bring all data to the forefront and no developer resources are required.

We like Tray.ai and think that their traditional iPaaS is excellent. However, embedded iPaaS is a more secondary proposition for Tray.ai – if embedded iPaaS is what you want then you may be better suited by other products.

A further consideration is your comfort with AI being within your iPaaS. Some organisations may favour this for internal use, however we believe that for an embedded iPaaS it is better to enable AI but not to allow AI/LLMs inside the product.

Tray Workflow
n8n Workflow

n8n

n8n is our favorite developer centric iPaaS. Incredibly powerful for single tenanted use-cases with an interesting combination of technical capabilities and ‘off the shelf’ tools. N8N is a great choice for a technical individual with smaller scale projects.

n8n however is not an embedded iPaaS and is not designed for multi-tenancy, templating, white-labeling and controlling an eco-system of multiple clients. Its technical nature can also let it down when it is used by non-technical teams within larger organizations. If you need an embedded iPaaS you may want to look elsewhere.

What Partners Say About Cyclr

“Cyclr is easy to use and an intuitive system with a great support team. They have helped us set up multiple connectors with multiple systems, and guided us through the process so we knew how to set them up in the future.”

Alistair D, Technical System Administrator

G2 Reviews

“The Cyclr system takes away the burden from developers to integrate and create routes to connect from our customers requirements. The support we get is second to none, every issue we face with a CRM or other type of connector the team respond instantly and get a fix that suits us.”

Chris Manko, CTO

G2 Reviews

“It is a highly collaborative team, and the product is robust. Their speed of resolving issues and required changes from customer support is so impressive. We use it daily and it’s easy; you don't notice it once integrated. And the implementation wasn't complex as well.”

Claudio C, Head of Product

G2 Reviews

Zapier

We don’t really view Zapier as a competition. In fact where requirements are too simple to justify a Cyclr licence we often positively refer clients to Zapier (not sure Zapier know this!). Zapier is an online API automation tool that connects apps and services. The application is designed to connect your apps to automate repetitive tasks without any coding or relying on developers to build integrations.

Many of our customers use both Zapier and Cyclr. Cyclr for the higher value/more complex integrations that merit being natively delivered and Zapier for the longer tail/simpler/lower value integrations.

Those who opt for Zapier need to understand that their users will have to have an active role in the API integration management process. Whereas Cyclr removes this active role and keeps things simple for your users.

Zapier Workflow
Celigo Workflow

Celigo

Celigo is an API Integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) designed to help organisations integrate and connect with multiple third-party systems to automate various business processes across applications.

Notably the detail on the level of embedding Celigo is very light. This leads us to believe that their API integration platform’s focus is very much on being a ‘traditional iPaaS’ rather than being an embeddable one. Therefore, if interested, we’d suggest asking what their embedding capabilities are and if you’ll be able to self-serve integrations.

Cyclr, on the other hand, is a built for purpose embedded integration platform, designed from the ground up as such. We are able to solve either the most straightforward or the most complex use cases you may have, and you can self-serve integrations.
