It was one of those lovely decisions that we are privileged to be able to take as a small autonomous company.
We were discussing the ‘swag’ we should be taking to SaaStock over a coffee with our Chairman. Debating the merits of connectors over toolkits, widgets over gizmos, when he pointed out how ridiculous it was that we would commit a decent budget to what essentially was disposable. His suggestion…….. donate it all to charity. Brilliant.
We ditched the swag and committed to donate EUR 20 for every conversation we had.
The Prince’s Trust became our chosen charity for their endeavours in inclusion (social integration!) and entrepreneurship. Two subjects close to our hearts.
It was with some trepidation we turned-up to see the impressive ‘swag’ on offer from everyone else…. our stand, blank…… a few leaflets wafting on the podiums.
But wow…. did it matter?….. No and Yes. ‘No’ because everyone embraced it, ‘Yes’ because it felt good, it felt right. Our swag budget will contribute towards someone else, somewhere, to start their own initiative, to maybe be where we are one day – centre of SaaStock18 surrounded by an amazing community of entrepreneurs.
Thank you to SaaStock, thank you to all those who came and spoke to us and pushed up our total, thank you Colin (Chairman) for the idea.
From now on our swag budget is going towards much more meaningful causes……
